Oregon Permits are good in 17 states. Ok, I humbly admit that some of this is news to me. Things are changing and I am updating my information. Right now, you can carry legally with the Oregon permit in: Alaska, Arizona, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Vermont. Three of these states (AK, AZ, and Vermont) allow concealed carry without a permit if you can legally possess the firearm. The other states recognize the Oregon permit even though Oregon does not recognize their permits.

As of the end of February, Nevada no longer recognizes the CHL from AZ. To obtain a Nevada permit, you would be required to take the training in Nevada and apply with the sheriff in a county of your choice.

I received some unsolicited feedback from last nights class:
Great class tonight! Honestly, I expected a boring class and certainly did not expect to actually learn anything. I was wrong! It was a well balanced class with good information and appropriate humor. I will have no hesitation in recommending you to other friends.

I got the following in the mail yesterday:
"Louie is awesome! His expertise, patience, and sense of humor make firearm training fun and relaxed! He was able to meet me at my own level and challenge me just enough so that I could improve at my own rate and feel successful. I would highly recommend Louie to any person interested in firearms, whether you've never held a gun or if you are a seasoned shooter, Louie is your man!"
I appreciate hearing that from someone with as much experience as Laura has. She started shooting at a very young age and really rocks a pistol!

If you are in the Washington DC area, this is a must see. Out near Dulles Airport and the new Air and Space Museum Annex, the NRA museum and shooting range is very very cool. They have an exhibit of the guns of Hollywood with an amazing collection of "star" firepower. From Dirty Harry's S&W 44 mag to Luke Skywalker's light saber, the best of the movies use of firearms is presented. Beyond that, there is a mind boggling array of firearms from just about every category of use. Shooting at the state-of-the art gun range was waay too much fun! They will not allow photography in the range, so you will just have to believe me when I tell you that Marianne and I really kicked butt....Yup that is a concealed carry pack under my arm. I don't leave home without it!
